The Statue of Liberty was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi to represent freedom and the American dream. As defenders of freedom since the French Revolution in 1789 the French people offered the statue of “Liberty enlightening the world” to the American people.

It was constructed in the 17th arrondissement of Paris at 25 Rue de Chazelles. Completed in 1884 it was dismantled and dispatched to America in 1885.  It was inaugurated on 28th of October 1886 to celebrate a common vision of freedom.
