Also known as the Stairway to Heaven, this steep hiking trail is located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. In 1942, the 3922 steps were originally installed in ladder form by the United States Navy to install antennae for radio signals. The ladder was later transformed into a wooden staircase and most recently into metal stairs and ramps. The trail is closed to the public, and although there is a guard stationed there and signs indicating No Trespassing, hikers continue to use the trail.
