This image is the aftermath of a retreat to Baghdad during a ceasefire on the night of 26-27 February 1991. “U.S. planes trapped the long convoys by disabling vehicles in the front, and at the rear, and then pounded the resulting traffic jams for hours,” says Joyce Chediac, a Lebanese-American journalist. “It was like shooting fish in a barrel,” one U.S. pilot said.  2,000 mangled Iraqi vehicles, and charred and dismembered bodies of tens of thousands of Iraqi soldiers remained on Highway 80, about 32 km west of Kuwait city in Iraq.
